Some basic animated typography that I did in After Effects.
“Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys only what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision.” ― Salvador Dali
I love creating abstract motion that goes to sound. This was particles reacting to sound. Tools used were After Effects and the Trapecode suite by Red Giant.
This poster was inspired by the song Innerbloom by RÜFÜS DU SOL. When I came across John Baldessari's 1988 artwork Man and Woman, Uncoupled Embracers and Kissers, it immediately resonated with the lyrics of longing and the dreamlike quality of the track. The repetition and swirling motion of the lyrics layered over waves on a beach helped visually capture the song's ethereal tone and emotional depth.
Nils Frahm's instrumental track Says carries an abstract, yet warm atmosphere. To reflect this, I combined a photo taken from an airplane window with another captured while driving along the Pacific Coast Highway. The contrast between the aerial and ground perspectives mirrors the layered, emotional complexity of the piece. Additionally, I played with the typography to play on the album and tour name, Spaces.
More experimenting in After Effects and Red Giant Trapcode.
